SATURDAY 4 JULY TO BE ‘WESTCONNEX INDEPENDENCE DAY’ AS RESIDENTS COME OUT IN FORCE AGAINST SHAM TOLL ROAD

Residents opposed to the destructive #WestCONnex project will unite in Concord tomorrow when WestCONnex Action Group (WAG) hosts the ‘WestCONnex Independence Day’ rally.

“Our community will be devastated by the Baird Government’s plan to destroy great swathes of Haberfield, Homebush, Ashfield and Concord to make way for WestCONnex,” said WAG Concord spokesperson Amanda Bull.

“This rally will see us to come together to stand up against the wasteful WestCONnex and declare our independence from this $15.4 billion sham toll road, which will do nothing to ease Sydney’s traffic congestion.

“We will not let Mike Baird get away with destroying hundreds of families’ homes and businesses, placing poison stacks across our city, and wasting billions of taxpayer dollars on WestCONnex even as he refuses to release the toll road’s business case.

“WestCONnex Independence Day will be the latest in a long line of community actions against this toll road. And opposition will continue to intensify as more people realise WestCONnex is one big con,” said Ms Bull.
