MORE THAN 4,500 submissions objecting to the WestCONnex M4 East environmental impact statement (EIS) were sent in to the Department of Planning & Environment by last night’s midnight deadline.

WESTCONNEX Action Groups across Sydney are calling on the Planning Minister to give affected residents at least 60 days to respond to the M4 East environmental impact statement (EIS) that will be released today.

FAMILIES from Haberfield and Ashfield will march from Haberfield Public School to the pedestrian footbridge at the corner of Parramatta Rd and Bland St this afternoon to highlight the destruction WestCONnex will cause to their suburbs.

HUNDREDS of residents attended last week’s WestCONnex M4 East ‘community information sessions’ in Ashfield and Concord to express their opposition to the $15.4 billion toll road, which now threatens to destroy hundreds of heritage homes, businesses and communities in the area.

RESIDENTS facing the destruction of their homes and communities for the M4 East stage of WestCONnex have blasted the ‘community information sessions’ to be held by the WestCONnex Delivery Authority (WDA) in Ashfield and Concord this week as a “sham”.
