On Thursday 1 December, Premier Mike Baird finally met with members of community groups campaigning against the WestCONnex tollway, along with Greens MPs Jenny Leong (Newtown) and Jamie Parker (Balmain).

OVER 1,000 residents have joined community groups, business and environmental organisations, and Labor and Greens politicians to signing an Open Letter to Premier Mike Baird, Roads Minister Duncan Gay and Planning Minister Rob Stokes to demand a halt to work on St Peters Interchange and an inquiry into the whole WestCONnex project.

She's been dealing with the people behind WestCONnex for over two years, and has kept a record of what residents were promised for the King Georges Road Interchange upgrade versus what was delivered. On 28 July 2016, we joined volunteers from other WestCONnex community action groups to meet with Inner West Council (IWC) Administrator Richard Pearson. It became clear that, despite its stated promise to “oppose WestCONnex in the strongest terms”, IWC is focusing on damage control and is not proactively opposing WestCONnex.
