OVER 1,000 residents have joined community groups, business and environmental organisations, and Labor and Greens politicians to signing an Open Letter to Premier Mike Baird, Roads Minister Duncan Gay and Planning Minister Rob Stokes to demand a halt to work on St Peters Interchange and an inquiry into the whole WestCONnex project.

RESIDENTS are now occupying the NSW Department of Planning and Environment offices at 23-33 Bridge St Sydney in protest at the corruption of the planning processes surrounding the $16.8 billion WestCONnex toll road, and to call for a public inquiry into the project.

MORE THAN 4,500 submissions objecting to the WestCONnex M4 East environmental impact statement (EIS) were sent in to the Department of Planning & Environment by last night’s midnight deadline.

Last month we wrote to our supporters asking them to call NSW Planning Minister Rob Stokes to ask him give communities more time to respond to the massive WestCONnex M4 East environmental impact statement (EIS), which is over 4,800 pages long.

WESTCONNEX Action Groups across Sydney are calling on the Planning Minister to give affected residents at least 60 days to respond to the M4 East environmental impact statement (EIS) that will be released today.
