TWO residents who occupied the roof of a forcibly acquired home in Haberfield to protect it from WestCONnex destruction this morning have been arrested and charged with trespass.

RESIDENTS are now occupying the roof of a forcibly acquired home at 1 Wolseley St Haberfield after it was fenced off by WestCONnex contractors in preparation for demolition.

On 22 March 2016, Premier Mike Baird came to Haberfield to open a patisserie. Local residents were insulted that he’d come to their community to eat cake as he was preparing to send in the bulldozers to destroy it, so they decided to make their feelings known. Leo Sullivan filmed parts of the protest. 

After Graeme McKay's heartfelt email to every MP in NSW about WestCONnex's destruction of Haberfield went viral, 2SER invited him and WestCONnex Action Group's Pauline Lockie to speak to Razors Edge about the impact of the $16.8 billion toll road project.

PREMIER Mike Baird was confronted in Haberfield on Tuesday by dozens of local residents whose communities are set to be destroyed for WestCONnex as he attended the opening of a local patisserie.

WESTCONNEX Action Group welcomed the release of a new independent review of the WestConnex business case, which confirmed the $16.8 billion toll road would be unlikely to recover its cost or ease traffic congestion.

WAG strongly objects to the fact that AECOM, the company contracted to compile this EIS, has deep interests in the planning and construction of the $16.8 billion motorway project, raising questions about the independence and integrity of the planning assessment process.
