The Sydney Motorway Corporation (SMC) is currently in the process of conducting consultation sessions on its Concept Design for the WestCONnex M4-M5 Link. Wendy Bacon went along to the first sessions in Camperdown and Leichhardt, and has provided the following report.

WestCONnex was meant to be funded using a combination of taxpayer dollars, tolls, and the sale of the roads' toll concessions. But the Berejiklian government has just announced its intention to sell off the company tasked with building it - the Sydney Motorway Corporation (SMC). This was first announced as the sale of a 51% stake in the SMC, but it's now been confirmed that the government is considering selling off the SMC in its entirety. So what does this mean for the people of NSW - and the future of WestCONnex? Commercial lawyer and WestCONnex Action Group (WAG) spokesperson Rhea Liebmann explains.

MEMBERS of the WestCONnex Action Group (WAG) have invited the new Premier of NSW, Gladys Berejiklian, to meet with them to discuss their call for a halt work on WestConnex and an immediate review into the project.

People have been asking us who they should vote for when it comes to WestCONnex. While we can't tell you how to vote - that's your decision - we can tell you where the parties stand on WestCONnex, particularly when it comes to halting the $2.26 billion in Federal funding that hasn't been paid.

Around 500 people attended the Stop WestCONnex Community Rally in Rozelle on Sunday afternoon to call for a halt to the project and its Federal funding.

RESIDENTS are now occupying the NSW Department of Planning and Environment offices at 23-33 Bridge St Sydney in protest at the corruption of the planning processes surrounding the $16.8 billion WestCONnex toll road, and to call for a public inquiry into the project.
